FEELSEENにて定期的に展覧会を開催している「acoya」のディレクター、アート、デザインなど幅広く活躍されている大地千登勢さんの連載コラム。
　
今回は、オランダのクリエイターたちとの特別なコラボレーションをご紹介いたします。

青い着物を纏い描かれている女性は其扇、シーボルトが愛した女（ひと）。

彼女はその豪華絢爛さで世界に名を馳せた長崎・丸山遊郭の遊女。

シーボルトの東洋との出会いは其扇との出会いでもあった。

其扇、しかしその名は歴史の表舞台には現れない。

Sonogi is depicted wearing a blue kimono and was adored by Siebold, a Yujo

(prostitute) at the Maruyama Yukaku (brothel) in Nagasaki, whererenowned worldwide

for its opulence and splendor. For Siebold, his encounter with the Orient was also his

encounter with her.

Sonogi, yet, her name remains absent from the annals of history.

この展覧会は、1600 年にオランダ船デ・リーフデ号が九州に来航したところからはじまる日蘭交流425 周年を記念する文化事業です。この来航により日本とオランダの交流、蘭学などが始まり、ゆくゆくは日本の近代化を助けていくことになるのです。

1800 年代来日した人物フィリップ・フランツ・フォン・シーボルトはとても有名です。彼が愛した日本には、彼が愛した女性がいました。彼の日本への数々の情熱はまた、彼女への想いそのものであったと思います。しかし、この女性の存在はあまり語られることがありません。

この物語 “ 其扇　青い女” はシーボルトの愛した女性、長崎・丸山遊郭の遊女 “ 其扇” を主人公に彼女の思いの断片をオランダ・日本のクリエーターが映像、絵、ジュエリー、テキスタイル、器そして短歌と現代と伝統の様々なアートワークにて描き出します。そしてこの物語はまた、遊女という名のもとで、表舞台に現れることを許されなかった女たちの物語でもあるのです。

This cultural exhibition commemorates the 425th anniversary of the exchange between Japan and the Netherlands, which began in 1600 with the arrival of the Dutch ship De Liefde in Kyushu. The arrival of the Dutch ship in Kyushu in 1600 marked the start of the relationship between Japan and the Netherlands, which led to the exchange of knowledge on Dutch studies and other subjects, eventually helping to modernize Japan.

Philipp Franz Balthasar von Siebold, a man who came to Japan in the 1800s, is very famous. In the Japan he loved, there was also a woman he loved. His passion for Japan was also his very feelings for her. However, the existence of this woman is not often mentioned.

The story ‘Sonogi, The Woman in Blue’ is based on Sonogi, a Yujo in the Maruyama Yukaku in Nagasaki, a woman loved by Siebold. The fragments of her thoughts are depicted by Dutch and Japanese creators in a variety of contemporary and traditional artworks, including films, paintings, jewellery, textiles, teabowls and Tanka poems. It is also the story of the many women whose names were never recorded, whose voices remained unheard—those who shaped history under the title of Yujo, yet were never allowed to stand in the spotlight.
